New RI President Barry Rassin’s theme for 2018-19, Be the Inspiration, asks Rotarians to inspire change in the world and in each other. “I ask all of you to Be the Inspiration to help Rotary move from reaction to action — to take a hard look at the environmental issues that affect health and welfare around the world and do what we can to help.”

Rotary Youth Services: Interact, Ryla, and youth exchange
Our last club meeting on July 10 was all about Rotary Youth Services - Interact, RYLA (Rotary Youth Leadership Awards), and Youth Exchange. We also had many young people join us at this morning's meeting - so great to see our next generation taking an interest in the work of Rotary!

Michael Moore, President of Mat-Su Valley Interact Club, who gave an update on RYLA and how things are going for his Interact club. Thank you, Michael, for putting service above self in your leadership of Interact!

In addition to hearing from Michael, our Rotary Exchange Student from Mexico, Augustin Lira (affectionately known as Gus), gave his final presentation all about his Alaska experience. Some highlights for Gus included playing football for Wasilla High, spending time with his Rotary families and friends, developing a love for Cinnamon Toast Crunch, swimming in local lakes, participating in the Polar Plunge, and his West Coat Trip. Thanks for sharing the last year with us, Gus, we will miss you!

WSRC at the City of Wasilla Independence BBQ
Serving hotdogs at the Wasilla Mayor's lunch on Independence Day has become a tradition for Wasilla Sunrise Rotary. While there are no official numbers we've served as many as 3000 hotdogs to our fellow Wasilla community members.
Thank you to all those who came to volunteer!
